the good life

this weekend i was privileged enough to spend it with three of my closest girlfriends at one of their sister’s houses about 2 hours away.  she lives there with her husband and five (yes.  i said five) children: duke (6) dorian (5) sunny mae (3) toban (2) tucker (2 mo.)

one would think it must be a wildhouse, but it was quite the contrary.  i haven’t spent such a relaxing weekend in months.  who knew that a house holding 11 people could actually be peaceful??  it’s not what i was expecting.
these children are absolutely inspiring.  and it doesn’t take long for your heart to clue in and turn an awe-struck eye to their parents, ben and bonnie – two parents (who are, incredibly, still in their late 20s) who should be given awards for their patience, wisdom, generosity, and compassion.
they’ve set a new bar in my mind for creative parenting.  from the wheat-grinder in their kitchen to the fully-formed sentences that come out of their two-year-old’s mouth….there’s something to be learned here.
she’s skilled enough to cook & clean for seven, keep a genuine smile on her lips and heart, and write incredible blogs letting the rest of the world in on this beautiful life she lives:
