El Camino – Irùn to Casa Baraca

So arrived at the commune on Tuesday afternoon. WEDnesay afternoon Fernanado and I hopped a ride back into Irùn where I got my credential and sent some stuff. We walked to Hondaribbia (nearby city) and toured around the old part before heading back to the house.

We started out on what seemed to be the perfect path, trusting Fernando and his claim on his “very good intuitions!”. Our 10 km walk back to the house ended up being more like 17 or 18 after doing several circles, walking down an interstate and getting turned around a billion times. Fortunately we were both in great spirits, so we had loads of fun.

It had been threatening rain all afternoon while we were walking, but had held off. About 200 meters from the house – just when we had celebrated returning home alive and dry – it broke loose. We were DRENCHED by the time we got back. But, as the community operates, there was wonderful warm food for us upon our return.
