work

it’s actually pretty tough to get a job out here. the economy obviously has a bit of stress on the system, so the career jobs are stretched tight across the population and the jobs that i usually love (restaurants, coffee shops, etc) are mostly being filled by overqualified folks who’ve been laid or or by the large group of entertainers paying their bills while living their dream.

a small update, however. i worked the first month at a raw foods restaurant called Leaf Organics, but they simply didn’t have enough hours. i got a job with Greenpeace to suppliment, but when it turned out to be full time i had to quit at Leaf (though i still go hang out there often). but then when i realized Greenpeace wasn’t for me i went searching again.  well, this morning i got a call from the manager of a pretty-darn-authentic italian-style “bar.” and by bar i mean espresso bar and gelato shop. it’s pretty great and the people are pretty great and i’m super pumped to be a barista again. i thought my LAST coffee shop was anal about the perfection of their art. they’ve got nothing on Gelato Bar.
