’83 Yamaha Maxim 750

i’ve been watching craigslist for weeks and tonight my efforts finally paid off.  say hello to my new baby. she may not be prettiest thing in the world, but i got her for an absolute steal and there are a lot of modifications i plan on doing (that back rest has got to go…).  plus, she’ll get me from A to B and that’s the important part. carless in LA is a little tough to say the least.

any thoughts on her name? lucy? betty? amelia?

i bought her late in the day, so it was dark before i could get her home for her first photo shoot.  these are the photos that were posted on the craigslist ad i found her on.

That’s awesome. I had a 650 Maxim for quite a few years, great bike.

i’ve gotta be honest – i’d never even heard of a maxim before this one, but it feels like it was *built* for my body shape. i’m pretty happy with it so far (aka less than 24 hours). glad to hear you were happy with yours, though!

How about “Ralph”? It does look good. You be careful. Completely careful. I don’t want you to mess up your beautiful skin.

The bottom left picture looks like “Johnny 5” to me. So I would go with that. Congrats on the purchase.

Duke suggested: “Blackout” and Dorian suggested: “Speed Run”

Sweet ride, looks like the younger cousin of my ’79 yamaha. Excited to hear you’re back on a bike.

Hope you’re doing well out west.

Did you ever get rid of the backrest for your bike? I am looking for a backrest for a 1982 750 maxim.
