roasted grape sorbetto

my church had a wine tasting last saturday night.  it was absolutely wonderful – over 100 people from our church (which is nearly the entirety of the church) came together and had dinner and tasted 6 wines under the stars.

cleaning up at the end of the night they piled my arms high with goodies to take home: about 25 yummy sliced tomatoes, a huge hunk of my favorite cheese (manchego), a few french baguettes, a huge bag of grilled veggies, and a huge bag of roasted grapes.

now if you’re like me, you’ve never considered the idea of roasted grapes. I had no idea what to do with them….besides make gelato, of course!  so yesterday was my first attempt.  unfortunately i have no idea how, preciseily, they roasted the grapes, so that part of the recipe is only a guess.  but if you can figure that much out, the sorbetto i made was pretty darn simple.

Roasted Grape Sorbetto

heat red wine and sugar in a pot over the stove to melt the sugar.  puree all ingredients in a blender/food processor until smooth.  freeze an hour.  stir and then process mixture in an ice cream maker according to maker’s directions.  cover and freeze.  mmmm goodness.  (makes about 2.5/3 cups sorbetto.

attempt two is coming up when I finish this one… I’ll let you know if/what i change.
