bullet drop

shortly after i moved to boulder some dear friends just so happened to visit another set of friends in town.  i got to join in on the fun for some pizza and a pitcher of beer at the dark horse saloon.  the place was more or less empty, so a simple conversation about bullets that have been dropped vs. shot turned into poorly-designed experiments concerning the topic.  in other words, we initially thought (probably due to a couple beers) that we would be able to differentiate which hit the bar-floor first: a penny dropped vs. a penny slung off the table.  right.

after a couple attempts and a couple pennies slung into non-participating bar patrons (sorry) we(i) finally moved to taking a poll.

***i know all you physics folks are going to lose a little bit of respect for me in a couple seconds, so i’d like to take a moment to say…thanks, it’s been fun.

this post is almost exclusively to announce: brian, you were right.

…at least according to the mythbusters…and newton.  but who are they, anyway?? 😉  however, for the sake of experimentation, i think we need to test it in spain as well….you know…just to be safe.  a jealous congratulations to you guys – see you there! 😉
