de-clutter

a friend suggested a couple new songs, so while downloading them i somehow found the motivation to clean out my itunes library, deleting all the randoms that unexplainably land themselves in one’s files – 3GB’s worth of them.  i organized the albums and the artists and re-loaded my entire ipod.  then i went through my drawers and rid them of all the shirts and pants i rarely wear and often ask myself why i still even have them.  then i organized a couple shelves, took out the garbage, vacuumed my floor, lit some candles, and smiled.

i like life streamlined enough to hit random on my ipod, or to reach into my shirt drawer and be equally happy with any garment i touch first.  yet somehow i manage to accumulate all these things i don’t even like and then have a hard time getting rid of them.  even so far as things like the way i feel when i eat sugar (rotten), yet i rationalize and hold on.

there’s still heaps of snow outside and i’m glad for it, but i’m calling spring on my life.  things that don’t belong are getting ousted, making space for health.  it’s funny how these simple things snowball.
