priorities

i feel like i’ve been taking it for granted for quite some time now, but fortunately i’m remembering why i love spending my time with kids. they, unknowingly, remind you of how important little moments are. our busy lives gloss over the details, while the 3 year old squats and scoops and dumps the same pile of pure snow for half an hour on end. and the 3 month old rejoices over his sweet little thumb that must feel so nice when it finally finds his lips. i know there will always be seasons when i forget to think, forget to breathe, forget to smile…but hopefully they will be short ones. only long enough to perfectly punctuate the lovely longer seasons where an unexpected insect is far more interesting than the clock telling us where we need to be.
