we’re connected

as it turns out, homeownership isn’t all chocolate and ribbons. i went directly from the closing to the house to meet the plumber who was to dewinterize the plumbing system. immediately upon walking into the house i knew we were in trouble. the furnace was off and it was about 35 degrees. there was a pipe frozen solid and split about 3 inches right next to the water pump. the plumber fixed the pipe and immediately found two other splits.

after some calling around, i found a plumber who’d do it for less than a third of what he was. they’ve been up here most of the day fixing breaks and finding the next one. what a nightmare….and all because someone didn’t do their job well a month ago.

last night my roomies and i came up and had an awesome spread of olives, cheese, flatbread, hummus, and of course a lovely bottle of wine courtesy of my lending agent. i think it’s going to be a wonderful home with wonderful people.

i officially have internet. in fact, this is the first post from the house. now i just can’t wait for these plumbers to turn around and say, “that’s it! pipes are holding pressure!” ahh…
