the slightest things

“Sometimes the slightest things change the directions of our lives. There merest breath of a circumstance. A random moment that connects like a meteorite striking the Earth. Lives have swiveled and changed direction on a chance remark.”  – Bryce Courtenay, The Power of One

This particular truth has always made me feel like I could levitate, but to have it spoken so beautifully has, so far, been the highlight of my week. I like the practice of enjoying a moment, and then tracing back through decisions and events and speculating on how easily a moment in my life could have been entirely different. And without thinking about whether any one possibility as best, better, or worst, I feel the gratitude fill me for what is, for what has been, and for what will be. Isn’t it wonderful to relinquish control? After all, its always been the slightest things that have made the biggest difference.

Thanks, Gill, for suggesting the read.
